Tommy Cowett started Outer Space Landscape Service in March of 2001 in Greensboro, NC. With a Masters Degree in Turf Physiology From NCSU and 20 years experience in the Green Industry he had the confidence in himself to go out on his own and try to make a living doing what he truly loves to do. Now, ten years later he is still at it and fueled by a new consciousness about designing and maintaining green sustainable landscapes that are less costly to maintain utilize less water, pesticides, and traditional synthetic fertlizers. Over the past ten years we have gone through some severe drought situations in the piedmont of NC. Trying to overcome the adversity caused by the stressful drought conditions we had to think differently about what we were doing in our day to day landscape activities. Improving the soil, utlizing drip irrigation, rain barrels, mulching and applying organic materials to promote plant microbrial populations were some of the tactics we adopted in order to be successful in our business. Knowing what plants will thrive in a given environment is extremely important. Also, knowing what problems may exist with particular plants under various conditions we avoid future problems. We help our customers achieve the best possible landscape while saving them time and money.
